Introduction

A down jacket has unique properties. There is no other material that keeps you so warm while being so light. It can also be stored compactly. All Bever down products have a quality mark so you can be assured that the down has been sourced responsibly.

If your down jacket develops a tear or hole, it can still easily be repaired.

Cut any hanging or loose threads with scissors. Is there down sticking out of the tear? Use the back of tweezers or spoon to gently tuck the down back into the jacket.

Clean the area around the tear thoroughly. Use an alcohol wipe, alcohol from a bottle or another non-aggressive agent that degreases well.

Then make sure that the area around the tear is thoroughly dry. You can use a hairdryer for this if necessary. Be careful that the fabric does not get too warm.

Do not touch the area around the tear afterwards. Your fingers are often a bit greasy, which means that the patch may not adhere well everywhere and may come off again over time.

Cut the tape to size

Place the repair patch (with the protective film still on) over the tear and measure how large your repair patch should be. Use 2.5 cm extra tape on all sides of the tear; so also in the extension of the tear. Then cut the repair tape to size. Cut the corners of the tape rounded; straight corners are more vulnerable and can therefore loosen more quickly.

Pull the fabric tight around the tear and make sure the fabric does not wrinkle. If someone is around to help, they can straighten the fabric while the other person applies the patch. Make sure that the edges of the tear are as close together as possible.

Carefully peel off a piece of approximately 1 cm of the protective film from the tape. Use the tweezers for this. If you don't have one at hand, avoid touching the adhesive side of the tape with your fingers. Otherwise you run the risk of the tape coming loose on those parts over time.

Apply the released piece of tape to the tear approximately 2.5 cm from the start of the tear. Remove the rest of the protective film while simultaneously applying the rest of the patch to the material. Make sure there are no air bubbles under the tape. Every time you apply a piece of tape, pull the fabric under the tape taut.

Press the tape firmly

Now rub the tape firmly with the rounded side of a spoon. You can use a hairdryer to warm up the tape at the end. This way you can ensure that the repair tape is stuck very well.

Your jacket is now repaired and ready for use. Please note that it takes 24 hours for the tape to fully adhere.

Et voilà ! Quelle sensation !
